Wolverine Raider Review: Comfortable Men’s Workboot
Have you ever tried to work in a pair of uncomfortable boots? We spend a great deal of time discussing tools to help you in your job, but it's just as important to cover products that ensure you're comfortable while working.
If you work in construction, welding, in a warehouse, for the street department in your community – on any job involving spending the whole day on your feet, you know how important a tough, comfortable work boot can be.
The best work boots are the kind you’re hardly aware of as you go through the day, and this is what you get with Wolverine boots. They’re consistently comfortable and very durable.
Tradition of Quality
Wolverine began more than 130 years ago in Grand Rapids, Michigan and began processing their own raw materials for boots shortly after. It was first known as Wolverine Shoe and Tanning Corporation and produced pigskin gloves for the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Known as Wolverine Worldwide for more than 50 years, the company remains one of the leaders in the manufacture of quality footwear. The Michigan-based company not only manufactures some of the most popular, comfortable footwear under their own brand but also makes boots and shoes for several other major corporations that are not in the boot business.
Our Wolverine Raider Review
An example of this quality is the Wolverine 6” Raider work boot has a full-grain leather upper, MultiShox® removable full-cushion foot bed and rubber lug outsole, as well the Contour Welt construction that gives great support all day.
This line is one of the most popular under the Wolverine banner, with several styles and colors to choose from, including a steel-toe option.
Wolverine offers a 30-day Comfort Guarantee, which means, if you are not fully satisfied that they’re the most comfortable boots you’ve worn, you can return them within 30 days for a full refund. General warranty on Wolverine products is 45 days. Unworn boots will be exchanged/refunded during that period.
The Raider work boot provides sure footing in almost any setting with the slip-resistant, oil-resistant and abrasion-resistant rubber-lug outsoles. In addition to this rugged durability, the boot has removable, comfort-gel foot beds for cushion and support. The mesh lining improves “breathability,” while the lightweight midsoles make this boot great for all-day wear.
You can get the tough, flexible feel of the Wolverine Raider 6” work boot in a darker brown finish or in black as well. This quality boot bends and flexes as you work, staying supportive and comfortable during your toughest days. If you prefer, the same comfort and support are available in the Oxford style.
Comfort and Fit
One of the first things you'll notice about the Raider is there's little to no break-in period. These work boots are built to hit the ground running. They are designed to be warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This makes them ideal for mowing the lawn or working outside.
This is accomplished using a wave mesh lining that allows your feet to breath even in stifling conditions.
The steel-toe version in the Raider line delivers all the benefits of the styles just mentioned, including full-grain, leather uppers, MultiShox® rubber lug outsoles and removable, full-cushion insoles, plus the add protection of the steel toe. These comfortable work boots remain very light, at just above two pounds per pair.
If you prefer a different style, but still want the quality and protection provided by the Wolverine Raider 6” work boot, you can choose the Wellington style. They also deliver all-day comfort with Multi Shox® rubber lug outsoles and cushion foot beds that are removable.
The upper is full-grain leather in a rich, caramel-color. The boot is made with the durable nylon shank for added sole protection. This style is also available with steel toe, and is only slightly heavier than the 6” traditional style at 2.45 pounds per pair.
The Wolverine Raider work boot provides excellent protection in almost any work setting, with rugged uppers of full-grain leather. The rubber-lug soles provide excellent traction on surfaces that may have oil or moisture, however, this boot is not considered waterproof. There is a Raider Extreme version in the waterproof line, but the price is quite a bit higher than the standard Raider. For additional ankle support, you can also request the 8” design.
If you need comfortable boots that will hold up to almost any work conditions, you will have to go a long way to find a more suitable product than Wolverine. The cost is quite competitive with other top-line work footwear. If you spend 8 to 10 hours per day on your feet, you’ll like the flexibility of the sole and the upper as well.
With some basic cleaning and maintenance, these boots will last you a year or more, even in tough conditions. Wolverine has established a solid reputation in the world of work boots and other footwear. Take advantage of their experience and attention to detail and work in comfort today.
